Groundation is coming to SPOT in Groningen. Groundation was founded in 1998 and grew into an absolute legend within international roots reggae. With their early albums Young Tree and Each One Teach One, the band developed a distinctive and unique sound in which reggae and jazz blend seamlessly. Their worldwide breakthrough came in 2001 with the iconic album Hebron Gate, which to this day is regarded as a milestone within the genre.

After a renewed formation in 2018 around founder and frontman Harrison Stafford, Groundation has remained true to its musical identity. Surrounded by top musicians, all trained at the prestigious Sonoma State University, the band delivers a powerful mix of virtuosity, creativity, and intense live energy.

With more than twenty years of career and ten studio albums to their name, Groundation return with Candle Burning, their eleventh studio album. This record once again confirms their status as pioneers of American roots reggae: profound compositions, complex yet captivating arrangements, and committed, poetic lyrics, all recorded fully analog for a warm and authentic sound.
