Together with singer Tjerk Schoonheim, Rootsriders pay tribute to Henny Vrienten, the frontman of Doe Maar who passed away in 2022, saying goodbye to a childhood hero: a reggae salute. As the singer of Doe Maar, Henny brought his reggae-inspired songs to the highest echelons of the Dutch charts and thus became without a doubt one of the biggest advocates of the genre in the Netherlands. With a cheerful reggae show full of songs by Henny Vrienten from his Doe Maar period, Rootsriders say goodbye to one of their greatest childhood heroes.

Rootsriders were once named the world’s best Bob Marley tribute band by the BBC. They have been touring for years and are known for their energetic performances. This Amsterdam-based Dutch/Caribbean band was founded to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Bob Marley’s death. Over the years, the group with lead singer Mo Ali from Sudan has not only become a regular part of the Dutch music scene, but the band has also performed all over the world, from the Caribbean to Istanbul and from New York to Johannesburg. There, they had the honor of performing at the halftime show of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Final in front of more than 100,000 people.
