Angel Powah & The We’re Only Human Band will perform on March 20 at The Box, located at Valkenburgseweg 50A in Katwijk.

Angel Powah & The We’re Only Human Band create a beautiful mix of roots reggae, rocksteady, dub and ska, with influences from blues, soul and gospel. Sometimes the music is upbeat, sometimes slow and laid-back. The band brings its own unique interpretation with rich multi-part vocal harmonies, instrumental dub sections with tight drum and bass lines, rhythmic keyboard chops and bubbles, and soulful guitar solos.

Singer Angel Powah (Angélique Verweij) writes the lyrics for the band’s original songs. For her, reggae is not just about cheerful melodies to lift people’s spirits — it is also a way to deliver a liberating message. In her view, reggae music is a medicine for many ailments, both for yourself and for the world.

The band has already played several great shows, including Reggae Ruigoord, Reggae Night Delft, and the Suikerbrij Festival in Groningen. Last summer they also gave a successful semi-acoustic performance at the Gouden Pet Street Musicians Festival in Leiden, the city where the band is based.

More and more fans are asking when and where their next performance will be. On March 20 in The Box in Katwijk, they will perform both original songs and some lesser-known covers.
