Reggae and dancehall legend Barrington Levy will come to Enschede on Saturday, May 9, for an exclusive show packed with classics and pure sound system energy. Barrington Levy first broke through in Jamaica in the late 1970s and rose to become the voice of early dancehall in the 1980s. With his distinctive, powerful vocals and irresistible melodies, he helped shape a new direction for the genre.

While many artists came and went, Levy continued delivering hit after hit, including “Collie Weed,” “Shine Eye Girl,” “Under Mi Sensi,” “Here I Come,” and “Living Dangerously.” His music easily traveled from the Jamaican dancehalls to international charts.

Levy worked with leading producers and artists and performed at major festivals such as Reggae Sunsplash. In the 1990s and beyond, he continued to innovate with successful collaborations that introduced his music to a younger audience. His influence can still be heard today in modern reggae, dancehall, and even jungle and hip-hop productions.
