Eek A Mouse is coming to De Casino in Sint-Niklaas (Belgium). A high-pitched voice, playful improvisations, and humorous lyrics: Jamaican Ripton Hylton, better known as Eek-A-Mouse, has become an essential figure in the reggae genre! Eek-A-Mouse is an influential reggae and dancehall artist, known for his unique style that blends singing, toasting, and nonsensical sounds into what’s called ‘singjaying.’ His lyrics don’t just consist of words, but also of sounds like “Beedeedeedeebangbang” and “Benggengagengenggeng.”
Mouse had his big breakthrough at Reggae Sunsplash ’81 – Tribute To Bob Marley. With subsequent hits like Wa-Do-Dem, Ganja Smuggling, and Sensee Party, he firmly established himself as one of the greats in the genre. His unusual name comes from a racehorse he used to bet on—but the one time he didn’t, the horse won.
