Fat Freddy’s Drop enchant their audience with euphoric, diaphragm-shaking music. The independent band from Aotearoa, New Zealand was formed in 1999 and emerged from Wellington’s underground dance scene as a genre-defying powerhouse. Live, their musical blend of reggae, dub, soul, techno and jazz becomes a loud, joyful experience.

An undefinable sound that is just as celebrated on Freddy’s acclaimed debut studio album Based On A True Story as on their most recent release SLO MO. Out of love for music, the band Fat Freddy’s Drop will return to the stage in 2026 to perform their debut album Based On A True Story in full. These will be Freddy’s first shows since the sudden passing of founder Chris “MU” Faiumu.
