On September 27, Rootsriders will present a special musical tribute to Henny Vrienten, the iconic frontman of Doe Maar. This evening will highlight Vrienten’s major role in the popularization and recognition of reggae music in the Netherlands. For the members of Rootsriders, this is not only an ode to his musical influence, but also a farewell to a childhood hero they grew up with.

For this tour, former band member Tjerk Schoonheim will return as guest vocalist to join this unique show. Rootsriders are no strangers to the Dutch music scene. The band has been renowned for years for their successful Bob Marley tribute shows, leaving a strong impression both in the Netherlands and internationally. Earlier this year, they reached the finals of a music competition on SBS6, which led to a performance at a sold-out Ziggo Dome. Former members such as Shirma Rouse and Giovanca Ostiana have also gone on to make their mark in the music world.

Henny Vrienten—the legendary singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist—continues to inspire generations with his music, even after his passing on April 25, 2022.
