The Slackers are set to perform in ‘De Melkweg’ in Amsterdam. These veterans from New York have been mixing ska, reggae and rock ’n roll since the early 90s and managed to win over the Melkweg several times. The sound of The Slackers is deeply rooted in the music of legendary Jamaican bands such as The Skatalites and The Upsetters, while American retro sounds from the blues, soul and rock also play a major role. Lyrically, The Slackers are very politically engaged, but live they always make it a fun party. In 2022 they released their 15th album ‘Dont Let the Sunlight Fool Ya’, and later this year there will be a 20th anniversary release of the album ‘Close My Eyes’.
