Zaandam just got a whole lot more reggae! Introducing HomeGrown, a fresh initiative from ZenSocial and Podium DE FLUX. They are dedicated to showcasing the best of the Netherlands’ reggae scene. This recurring event gives both emerging and established Dutch artists a stage to power up the local reggae community. The second edition takes place on Sunday, December 21, featuring Flavour Coalition. Rootz Lions, and Royalee Sound by Earth Works Studio. If you’re craving authentic reggae energy, HomeGrown is the place to be!

Imishango Mandinka & The Unstoppable Force

Imishango Mandinka’s musical journey began in 2009, when a friend asked him to help write a song. Surprised by the result, they decided to head into the studio. Once there, his friend struggled to remember the lyrics and asked Imishango to sing the song as an example. Instead of just providing a guide, Imishango ended up performing the track — and everyone agreed that he had found his voice. That song became “HOW CAN YOU LAUGH.”

Just a few days later, he wrote his second track, “STRONG AS A LION.” The response from those around him was overwhelmingly positive, and it was clear: the artist Imishango Mandinka was born. Years of writing, recording, and performing followed, and now Imishango is set to take the stage on December 21 at De Flux, performing with his band, The Unstoppable Force. Based in Amsterdam, The Unstoppable Force is a reggae band founded by veterans of the city’s vibrant music scene. Drawing from a wide range of genres including reggae, soul, and world music, they have crafted a sound that is both timeless and modern.

Rootzlions ft. Royalee

Rootz Lions is a multicultural reggae band with members from Suriname, Cape Verde, and Aruba. Since establishing their base in the Netherlands in 2016, they have been bringing their unique sound to stages and festivals across Europe. With many years of experience and collaborations with reggae legends such as Chezidek. Colonel Red, Donovan Kingjay, Earl Sixteen, and Prince Jamo, the Rootz Lions promise a show you won’t soon forget. Their own project, Dub Meets Horns, featuring a powerful horn section, showcases their deep love for the foundations of ska and reggae.
