Kebra Ethiopia Soundsystem celebrates 20 Years of Roots & Unity

This year marks a major milestone for Kebra Ethiopia Sound System — 20 years of moving and uplifting crowds with reggae, dub, and roots culture. To honour two decades of sound-system legacy, the collective is hosting a special anniversary event in Amsterdam, bringing together music, community, and that irie spirit that has become their trademark. The event will take place on October 23rd and will be powered by Covenant Soundsystem and Empress MessenJah. The place to be: Garage Noord, Amsterdam.

Founded by DJ/selector Doc Inity, Kebra Ethiopia has roots in the townships of South Africa (notably Soweto), where their sound has consistently amplified voices of resistance, pride, and uplift. Over twenty years, they’ve grown far beyond local shows, performing internationally at festivals, sound-system sessions, and dub events across Europe, Latin America, and beyond

Their music is not just about sound — it’s about message: addressing social issues, cultural identity, African pride, and community life. The Sound System has long been a space for people to come together, to dance, to reflect, and to feel connected.
