Ky-mani Marley is the headliner for the 3rd edition of Su On Top Festival in Silverdome, Zoetermeer. The son of Bob Marley is born on February 26, 1976, in Falmouth, Jamaica. He is a versatile artist and the son of legendary reggae musician Bob Marley and Jamaican table tennis champion Anita Belnavis. Ketikoti is a holiday of Surinamese origin, annually on July 1, celebrating the abolition of slavery. The name derives from Sranantongo and means “chains broken.
Growing up in Miami, Florida, Ky-mani was exposed to a diverse cultural and musical environment, which influenced his eclectic style. While he shares his father’s reggae roots, Ky-mani has carved out his own niche by blending reggae with elements of hip-hop, R&B, and rock.
Ky-mani’s debut album, “Like Father Like Son” (1996), pays homage to his father’s legacy with covers of Bob Marley’s songs. However, he soon developed his unique voice with his subsequent albums. “The Journey” (2000) showcased his songwriting skills and musical diversity, while “Many More Roads” (2001) earned a Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album, highlighting his talent and growing influence in the genre.
