The Congos & The Gladiators are coming to TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht! In 1977, the Jamaican band The Congos made one of the best roots reggae records of all time: Heart Of The Congos. For producer Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Heart Of The Congos was also the best record of his career, even though he made more records than smoked joints. The Congos still perform in the original line-up!

The Gladiators, also from Jamaica, made the classic roots reggae albums Trenchtown Mix Up (1976) and Proverbial Reggae (1978). In 2004, founder Albert Griffiths left the band due to health problems, but his two sons keep the sacred fire burning!
