Steel Pulse Bring Their 50th Anniversary Tour to Nijmegen This August

Steel Pulse SPOT Groningen

Reggae legends Steel Pulse are set to return to the Netherlands this summer with a special performance at Openluchttheater De Goffert in Nijmegen. On Friday, August 21, 2026, the Grammy Award-winning band will celebrate an incredible 50 years of music. Bringing five decades of roots reggae, powerful messages, and unforgettable live performances to one of the country’s most beautiful outdoor venues.

Since forming in Birmingham, England, in 1975, Steel Pulse have become one of the most influential reggae bands outside Jamaica. Throughout their career, the group has built a worldwide reputation for combining conscious lyrics with infectious grooves. Addressing themes such as equality, justice, unity, and human rights while remaining true to the spirit of roots reggae.

Their breakthrough albums, including Handsworth Revolution and True Democracy, helped establish Steel Pulse as international reggae pioneers. In 1986, the band made history by winning the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Recording with Babylon The Bandit. Becoming one of the genre’s most celebrated acts.

Fans can expect an evening filled with timeless classics such as Roller Skates, Steppin’ Out, Your House, Bodyguard, Ravers, and Ku Klux Klan. Alongside songs from across their remarkable catalogue. Known for their energetic performances and tight musicianship, Steel Pulse continue to prove why they remain one of reggae’s most respected live bands.

Set against the natural surroundings of Openluchttheater De Goffert, this anniversary show promises to be a memorable summer evening for reggae lovers from across the Netherlands and beyond.
