The legendary English roots reggae band Steel Pulse is coming to TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht. Steel Pulse was one of the first in the genre to focus on social inequality as a central lyrical theme in the second half of the 1970s. Their first two albums, Handsworth Revolution (1978) and Tribute To The Martyrs (1979), are now regarded as reggae classics. In 2019, the band made a strong comeback with Mass Manipulation, their first album in fifteen years. Over time, Steel Pulse has seen many lineup changes, but lead vocalist, guitarist, and founder David Hinds remains at the helm!
Throughout the years, Steel Pulse has continued to evolve, releasing iconic albums like Tribute to the Martyrs and True Democracy. After a long hiatus, they returned with Mass Manipulation in 2019, reaffirming their relevance in today’s social landscape. Despite numerous lineup changes, founding member and lead vocalist David Hinds remains the driving force behind the band. Steel Pulse’s music continues to inspire and advocate for equality, making them one of the most influential reggae acts worldwide.
After a 15-year hiatus, they returned with Mass Manipulation in 2019, which received widespread praise for addressing contemporary issues. The album showcases the band’s signature blend of roots reggae with powerful social commentary, addressing issues such as political corruption, environmental crises, racial inequality, and the struggles of marginalized communities. True to Steel Pulse’s legacy, the album continues their tradition of using music as a vehicle for activism.
