Lutan Fyah Droop Lion Jah Mason Melkweg Amsterdam

Lutan Fyah, Droop Lion, and Jah Mason have added a third show in Amsterdam to their Netherlands tour in March 2025. The three Jamaican reggae singers will also perform at the Melkweg in Amsterdam on March 6. Previously, the Jamaican trio had announced shows in Deventer and Utrecht.

𝗟𝗨𝗧𝗔𝗡 𝗙𝗬𝗔𝗛

A roots reggae singer whose music is deeply rooted in messages of unity, love, and respect. Born in St. Catherine Parish, Jamaica, Lutan Fyah grew up with music in his veins. Though he dreamed of becoming a renowned singer, he initially took his football career seriously. Joining a professional team after high school. However, in 1999, he left sports behind and began an apprenticeship with Buju Banton’s Gargamel label.

He recorded for Banton’s label and worked as a freelance artist for other producers until singer Jah Mason offered him a life-changing opportunity in 2001: to join his global tour as an opening act. Three years later, Lutan Fyah released his debut full-length album, Dem No Know Demself, under the Minor7Flat5 label. This was followed by Time and Place in 2005 on the Lustre Kings label. In 2006, he released two albums, Phantom War and Healthy Lifestyle. Since then, Lutan Fyah has consistently released new music, solidifying his cult status over the years.

𝗝𝗔𝗛 𝗠𝗔𝗦𝗢𝗡

Reggae artist Jah Mason was born in Manchester, Jamaica, and made his debut in 1991 with the single Selassie I Call We. The track was recorded for a record label under the name Perry Mason. A childhood nickname earned for his knack for resolving disputes. Mason always preferred the countryside to city life. Finding it easier to meditate and, as he puts it, “communicate with the birds and the trees.” After meeting David House, who successfully guided other artists to international fame, Mason’s spiritual side began to flourish.

In 1995, he joined the Rastafarian Bobo Ashanti movement. adopting the name Jah Mason and focusing on conscious reggae, where the message was as vital as the music. Jamaican hits like My Princess Gone and Lion Look, along with features on several singles, helped build his reputation. In 2002, he released two albums, Keep Your Joy and Unlimited. His 2004 album, Never Give Up, included collaborations with international producers such as Dan “Piloni” Kark from Israel. The 2006 album Princess Gone: The Saga Bed was released under the VP label, further solidifying his global recognition.

𝗗𝗥𝗢𝗢𝗣 𝗟𝗜𝗢𝗡

The exceptionally talented Free People Entertainment artist, Droop Lion, has emerged this year as one of the leading voices of a new reggae-soul movement within reggae music. Known for his breakthrough hit Freeway, Droop Lion is revolutionizing the genre with his soulful voice, inspiring songs, and awe-inspiring live performances. Born Andrew Brown in St. Mary, Jamaica, to parents Inez Aikens and Vivian Brown, Droop Lion grew up in the gritty slums of Kingston. He turned to music as a means of self-expression and to forge a spiritual connection with the universe.

He created poignant and brilliant tracks such as Mama Soon Come Back, a song he wrote about the mother he never knew, and the powerful Freeway, inspired by the catastrophic raid on Tivoli Gardens in 2010. Other standout tracks include Lockdown, a protest song against police brutality, and Long Way Down, a critique of intelligent political leaders and the terrible choices poverty often forces upon the marginalized.
