Kenyatta “Culture” Hill is a remarkable reggae artist born from the shadow of his father, Joseph Hill, the founder and lead singer of the iconic Jamaican trio Culture. Joseph’s death in 2006, in the middle of a European tour, marked a turning point in Kenyatta’s life. At the time, he was just the band’s sound engineer, but he bravely stepped forward to take over his father’s vocal role, immediately attracting the attention of fans, promoters, and critics worldwide. In the meantime, he has earned his spurs as a solo artist. You can see him in Patronaat on Sunday 27 October!

Kenyatta’s unexpected leap to the forefront proved more than just his dedication; It also showcased his inherent talent and passion for music. His debut album, “Pass The Torch,” released in 2007, marked his official entry into the music world. The album, in which he incorporates both unfinished songs by his father and his own creations, was supported by musical greats such as Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare. With his album “Riddim Of Life”, Kenyatta showed that he was not only his father’s heir, but also a full-fledged artist with his own sound. The record features contributions from members of the Roots Radics and The Archives, and highlights his unique voice that is often compared to his father’s.
