His music evolved towards roots reggae, emphasizing spirituality and social issues. Capleton remains a key voice in reggae, inspiring audiences with his passion and devotion to Rastafari.

The Congos

The Congos are a Jamaican reggae group formed in the 1970s, best known for their classic album Heart of the Congos (1977), produced by Lee “Scratch” Perry. Their music blends roots reggae with soulful harmonies, led by Cedric Myton’s distinctive falsetto and Roydel “Ashanti” Johnson’s deeper tones. Their lyrics focus on Rastafarian spirituality, social justice, and African heritage. Despite lineup changes over the years, The Congos remain influential in reggae, continuing to perform and record, keeping their rich, rootsy sound alive for new generations of fans.
