In our Reggae Café, new and promising reggae acts get the chance to shine on the stage of Patronaat. Together with some musical accompanyment from the best local DJs. You’ll see new faces and old acquaintances, and a mix of unplugged concerts, our favorite resident DJs and energetic live shows. Tonight it’s the turn of Zed I & Unstoppable Force, Motha Earth & Thunder.

Zed-I
Zed-I grew up in Sint Maarten and started a group called the “Funk Devils” in 1995. In 1996, he won the first free-style, throw-down rap contest on Sint Maarten and rose to become the best rap group in the Caribbean. The group disbanded in 2000, and six years later, Zed-I “Jah Secret” moved to Jamaica. As a reggae artist, he expands his mind through music and sees it as the universal language of life. Zed-I is assisted by Unstoppable Force.

Motha Earth & Thunder
Motha Earth (Eartha Dors) and her regular band Thunder bring all styles of reggae with influences from jazz, rock, afro and soul: from ska, lovers rock and roots to dancehall. The bass lines that frontwoman Eartha composes and the songs she writes on them form the basis for the band’s original tracks. Motha Earth & Thunder will also play contemporary covers and mash ups to which each band member adds his unique touch.
