Amsterdam Reggae Festival has announced its second artist! British-Jamaican reggae veteran Macka B will take the stage in Amsterdam, joining previously announced artist Shiwa on the festival line-up. Macka B is known for his unmistakable voice, conscious lyrics and his charismatic live performances.

Macka B has been spreading reggae music and positive messages around the world for more than four decades. Combining roots reggae with elements of dub and dancehall, he has built a reputation as one of the most distinctive and respected voices in British reggae.

Born Christopher MacFarlane in Wolverhampton, England, to Jamaican parents, Macka B emerged from the UK reggae scene during the 1980s. His breakthrough came with the album Sign of the Times in 1986. It was produced by the legendary Mad Professor and released through Ariwa Sounds. It marked the beginning of a long recording career that has taken Macka B to stages and festivals across the globe.

Coscious Reggae Culture

Throughout his career, Macka B has remained strongly connected to conscious reggae culture. His songs frequently address social issues, Rastafari, healthy living, African heritage and everyday life. Often delivered with his trademark combination of seriousness and humour.

In more recent years, Macka B has also reached a new generation of fans through social media. His popular “Medical Monday” and “Wha Me Eat Wednesday” videos have introduced audiences around the world to his unique combination of reggae, humour, food and healthy living.

On stage, however, Macka B remains first and foremost a reggae entertainer. With classics including “Step Up,” “Roots Ragga,” “Dread a Who She Love” and “Everybody Loves Bob Marley,” audiences can expect a performance packed with roots reggae, positive energy and unmistakable Jamaican-British sound-system culture.

Macka B is the second artist officially confirmed for Amsterdam Reggae Festival, following the earlier announcement of Shiwa.

With the first two names now revealed, the Amsterdam Reggae Festival line-up is beginning to take shape — and more artist announcements are expected to follow.
