Since the 1990s, Groundation has been the must-see American roots reggae band. Led by musical mastermind Harrison Stafford, the group is known for its reggae sound infused with rich jazz elements. Their latest album was released this past summer. On Wednesday, October 29, Groundation will take the stage at Patronaat in Haarlem!
Formed in 1998, Groundation made it clear they were here to stay with albums like Young Tree and Each One, Teach One. Now, nearly twenty years later, the band remains at the forefront of progressive roots reggae. Groundation’s music stands out for its deep grooves, socially conscious messages, and sophisticated instrumentation. Often featuring horns and complex time signatures. Despite lineup changes, Stafford has remained the driving force behind the band. Their 2022 album One Rock continued their tradition of pushing reggae’s boundaries while staying true to its roots.
With an energetic live presence and a loyal global following, Groundation remains one of the most innovative reggae bands, blending tradition with musical exploration and spiritual depth. The band’s early albums, Young Tree (1999) and Each One, Teach One (2001), established them as a force in the reggae scene. Over the years, they collaborated with legends such as Don Carlos and The Congos, further cementing their credibility.
