The Wailers toetsenist Tyrone Downie is op 66-jarige leeftijd overleden. Tyrone kwam midden jaren ’70 bij The Wailers. Hij maakte zijn debuut op het album ‘Rastaman Vibration’. De toetsenist is bijvoorbeeld ook te horen op het (in Nederland) zeer populaire ‘Three Little Birds’. Tyrone Downie speelde niet alleen bij The Wailers. Hij was ook actief bij acts als The Abyssinians, Black Uhuru, Buju Banton, Alpha Blondy, Burning Spear, Steel Pulse en meer. Er is tot nu toe nog niet bekend waaraan Tyrone Downie is overleden.

THE WAILERS: It is with great sadness and a heavy heart from the news that The Wailers’ own keyboard player, brother and friend Tyrone Downie passed away today. Tyrone joined The Wailers just before the age of 20, making his recording début with the band on Rastaman Vibration.
