Formed in 1999, Fat Freddy’s Drop rose from Wellington’s underground dance scene to become a global powerhouse. Blending reggae, dub, soul, techno and jazz into a sound that refuses to be boxed in. Their concerts are legendary: expansive, joyful, improvisation-driven journeys where each track transforms into a living, breathing experience.

In 2026, the band will honour the roots of that journey by performing their acclaimed debut album Based On A True Story in full — a record that helped redefine modern reggae-fusion and cemented their reputation as a groundbreaking live act. This tour marks their first return to the stage since the sudden passing of founding member Chris “MU” Faiumu, making each show a heartfelt tribute as well as a celebration of their musical legacy.
