On Friday, May 8, Rootsriders will take the stage at Effenaar together with Sudanese singer Mo Ali. They are coming to honor the music of Bob Marley. Over the past years, the band has delivered powerful performances at the Eindhoven venue. They are ready to raise the bar even higher this time. For this special edition, the band asked many Bob Marley fans which songs they would like to hear. Resulting in a setlist filled with both the greatest hits and hidden gems.

Rootsriders was founded in 2006 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the passing of the King of Reggae. Marked by a sold-out concert in Amsterdam. Since then, the group has toured the world. Performing everywhere from the Caribbean to Istanbul and from New York to Johannesburg. In 2010, they even performed as the halftime show at the FIFA World Cup in South Africa. The BBC has named them the best Bob Marley tribute band. Since 2017, Rootsriders has been working with Mo Ali, whom they connected with through social media. In 2021, the band reached the finals of the first season of The Tribute: The Battle of the Bands.

Classics and rare selections

For this edition, the band once again asked fans which Bob Marley songs they would love to hear, creating a show packed with classics and rare selections. As support, Spanish queer pop and reggae band Nadamente will join the tour. Based in Barcelona, the group brings a fresh perspective to reggae, aiming to reshape the genre through a “One Love” philosophy and inclusivity.

The Bob Marley tribute by Rootsriders ft. Mo Ali takes place on Friday, May 8 at Effenaar in Eindhoven. Doors to the main hall open at 19:30, and the concert starts at 20:15. Tickets are available via effenaar.nl.
