Burning Spear is coming to Utrecht and Amsterdam. The Spear is bringing his own Burning Band. The concerts will take place on July 31 (Utrecht) and August 1 (Amsterdam). With a career spanning more than fifty years, Jamaican reggae singer Burning Spear (Winston Rodney) is one of the most important artists in roots reggae.

Burning Spear broke through in 1973 with his third album Marcus Garvey. His first record on the legendary Island Records label (which also made Bob Marley and Toots And The Maytals big). In the early 1980s, he consolidated his success with the album Hail H.I.M. and its songs Columbus and African Teacher. In addition to work from Burning Spear’s new album No Destroyer (2023), expect many classics!

Burning Spear his music often addresses political and social issues. Advocating for African unity, black liberation, and cultural awareness. His album “Marcus Garvey” (1975), produced by Island Records, is widely regarded as a masterpiece of roots reggae and includes hits like “Marcus Garvey” and “Slavery Days”.

He’s received accolades including a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album in 2000. With a legacy spanning decades, Burning Spear remains a revered figure in reggae, embodying the genre’s spirit of resistance, cultural pride, and solidarity.
